A growing portion of the population—across political, generational, and educational lines—now lives in customized information loops, each one self-reinforcing and emotionally sealed.

This is more than a cultural moment—it’s a psychological rupture. Shared reality, once the default assumption of civic life, now feels quaint. It’s not just that people disagree on how to interpret facts. It’s that they increasingly don’t agree that the facts occurred at all. And once that happens, reality itself becomes fragile.
